It can be labeled as “unbelievable” and most Real Madrid fans probably hope that it remains a rumor. But it stands on a strong ground.

We are talking about the probability of Real Madrid putting a price on Xabi Alonso and selling him. Yes you read that correctly. This was written in the spanish newspaper “Confidencial” which is not a sports newspaper, yet it has strong sources all over Spain. This rumor did not spread without a cause. Here are some things to be taken into consideration: First, Alonso’s mediocre shape since the ending of last season. He hasn’t played great football and wasn’t very good in some of Real Madrid’s pivotal games. Then… there is the thing about having too many players in his spot. Modric, Khedira, Illaramendi and others, are there. Especially Modric was won a standard spot in the starting squad after his amazing C.L. final. There is also the case of Xabi Alonso having lost some of his strength and weight. Coach Anzelotti has been complaining about it big time and he thinks that Alonso is not such a force to be reckoned with, now.

Rumors or not, there are facts that make a strong case on the whole subject. Real Madrid fans will be so angry if this happens, though.
